I know this isn't going to sound like great praise, but it's truly something that the Attic Collective were able to pull off a play that lives in the nightmares of theatre majors in a way that wasn't boring. It was, in fact, supremely compelling, imaginative, and spellbinding.... full review

I'm always glad when productions acknowledge the humor in Hedda Gabler. Madelynn Fattibene tees it up in her opening scene as Aunt Julia and the cast continues to drive down the middle of the fairway for the rest of this well-paced production. (Also, I can't believe I went for a golf metaphor, it neither applies to this show nor have I ever liked the game. But I digress.)... full review

I give much respect to the courage that it takes for this cast and crew to take on such a deeply nuanced classic play and finding a way to harness the bravery and vulnerability in a compelling way for a modern audience. This team clearly has an excellent understanding of the text, the entire cast demonstrates a clear mastery of the language. I feel that this production took some time to reach the point of captivation, but it certainly achieved this in its final 30 minutes, creating some brilliantly intense and moving scenes. I feel that this play would be enjoyed by both those who are familiar with the text and those who have never seen an Ibsen play before, which is quite an accomplishment.... full review

This play was written more than 130 years ago? Yes, but there was a timeless quality, exposing some of the worst of human motivations and pain that continue today. The ensemble cast is great! This version of this Ibsen play is well worth experiencing.... full review

This show is not for the faint of heart. I don’t want to give spoilers but let’s just say my stomach turned. Themes of abuse and severe mental health issues. ... full review

Did we really need another revival of an adaptation of an Ibsen piece? Possibly, if that piece could make any case for its relevance and need to exist. Revivals usually come about because someone has a fresh new take on the material. This HEDDA does not have that. It feels as if it were directed by someone who has never read the piece, or someone who is so obsessed with it that they've lost the ability to see the forest for the trees. So, if you're an Ibsen fan, absolutely check this out, agree or disagree with me, and you'll get your money's worth. If you're not an Ibsen fan, this won't convert you. And, frankly, I'd rather someone experience Ibsen in his purest form for the first time, rather than an adaptation. Overall, I tip the scales i... full review
