I loved the Directors choices in both staging and prop use —maybe the actors had more input on that but I loved that they didn’t OVERINDULGE . It was concise and well directed in staging —
What I didn't like
The place itself is like someone’s forgotten attic. It’s horrendous to look at.
My overall impression
I thought the play was neatly crafted and had great moments of insight into the lives of humans facing themselves and the world around them and how their world or “the world they inhabited” has without apology delivered injuries both physical and emotional. The painting is a bit of an obvious metaphor that holds the arc of the main characters journey —a bit obvious but that’s okay I knew that going into this.
The actors are pretty perfectly cast and The Director manages to keep the momentum moving and utilizing the (awfully constructed) space they were given. The space is an absolute eyesore and my heart goes out to the cast and crew for sticking to it. Overall I’d love to see the show again and find its way into a more well designed space . The play needs it.
