Nice mix of audience participation, musical performance, comedy. Particularly enjoyed performers from Bugs sharing a song that represents their show but is not in the show, very clever. A short scene from “Morning Coffee” was amusing and intriguing. Free tickets to each show were raffled off. Odds of winning were high! The setting at Fringe Central (905 Cole) includes a nice outdoor space for mingling – no huddling on the sidewalk required, and there’s a friendly bartender serving reasonably priced drinks.
What I didn't like
Some acts were less polished than others. If you want a more curated experience, Pick of the Fringe may be for you. One performer in particular spent far too long describing her show and hardly any previewing it. “Show don’t tell” applies here. Also, if your show involves lots of movement and you aren’t used to working with a hand held, corded microphone, don’t! It’s a small space; use your voice. But hey, can;t complain too much as it’s free and fun!
My overall impression
Great FREE opportunity to see selections of what the festival has to offer and mingle with fellow Fringers in a relaxed, welcoming setting .
