Coffee, Tea, and Gin is a fascinating thought experiment on the dissonance of values between authors and audiences on two major literature giants. (that coincidentally shares the initials H.P.) Most fiction is an interpretation of an author's deep-seated ramblings made with the hopes that those who engage with it will connect to that discussion in some way. Casey's script revels in his own rambling, making it 100% clear what stances, issues, and conclusions he has as a conflicted consumer of Lovecraft's work. It's a testament to Casey's artistic and interpretative skill that he could create a story that stays true to Lovecraftian presentation while covering subjects that should be very unrelated. It's by far, the most interesting and high-co...

Captivating from start to finish. Casey Alcoser does an incredible job of telling this story, first by charming you and making you laugh, then by challenging you and making you think and finally by drawing you in and making you question everything. SO good!...

This was a very interesting and surprising unpacking of the pervasive, complex and at times problematic impact of HP Lovecraft on our modern literary world. All this was the backdrop to Casey who really showed himself to give a tour de force performance portraying a profound loss of innocence and ultimately a loss of sanity and grip on reality, fitting for the material. His performance captured an eerie, haunting mysteriousness while still capturing a comical wryness. An impressie combination that is very hard to pull off....

A seriously powerful piece. Casey Alcoser absolutely crushed it with a performance that was oozing talent and sincerity. Bouncing between personal anecdotes about their own life to scenes performed as Lovecraft himself, none of it ever felt confusing. The show tackles Lovecraft (and Harry Potter) by asking tough questions about how we deal with our idols' less than savory attitudes. Plus, the whole spooky Lovecraft vibe (especially at the end) really kicked the intensity up a notch! Go see this show, you won’t regret it!...

This was the most literal definition of insanity. Casey is a phenomenal actor and I truly appreciate the multiple facets he was trying to cover in this performance. I really enjoyed the bridge he was building between Lovecraft and JK Rowling. This was an interesting play about separating the art from the artist. But where the performance really shines is in the abstract concepts. I enjoyed the use of lighting and Casey's ability to metamorphize himself into that which cannot be named. I liked how the abstract took hold of Casey and I enjoyed the way in which it was portrayed. By the end I felt like I was watching a puppet. Something that looked just human enough to be convincing but only from far away. Phenomenal performance over all. ...
