What I liked
These characters feel very grounded and believable. I saw a lot of my own mom in this relationship and I think there’s a lot of relatable material clearly grounded in reality. These performers both had really unique qualities to them and it was awesome getting to see them in a story tailor made to make them shine. There were also several really memorable one liners and biting comebacks that hit hard without feeling unnatural. Was really impressed by how this was a slice of life story that didn’t feel mundane due to the underlying tension between the performers.
What I didn't like
We did spend a good deal of time in the dark waiting for the next scene to get set up. It was nice getting to see a variety of stage pictures and locations but they came with a bit of a buffer period for each one. Also felt the ending came a bit abruptly- didn’t realize the story was wrapping up when the lights went out.
My overall impression
An endearing story with relatable characters and a fun dynamic between two strong and unique performers. Definitely a writer to keep an eye on.
