What I liked

Loved the dialogue, and Elena Rosa’s performance is absolutely amazing in this show. Her ability to transform between the 4 different characters is masterfully executed. There is symbolism in each of the themes that compel the audience to unpack and think about long after the show is over.

What I didn't like

I would have liked to see more clear cohesion between the 4 scenes – I feel like there was an overall theme around Matthew, as indicated in the program description, and I felt that could be tightened up. Each scene felt disparate, so more of a connection between them (even if, as I interpreted it, the connection were serendipitous or tangential) would be helpful. At the same time, as 4 different vignettes, these work wonderfully.

My overall impression

This play is a fantastic fit for Fringe, as it pushes the boundaries of conventional theatre. It negotiates the complexities of some of the social, cultural, and political issues that we currently grapple with, injecting it with humanity through the perspective of these characters that are superbly brought to life through Elena Rosa’s electrifying performance.
