What I liked
Clearly a lot of time and hard work went into this. The speaker does have a really unique life’s story and perspective to share. I thought the lightning added some atmosphere.
What I didn't like
There are many characters in this one woman show, but I wish they were more distinctly portrayed. They all have more or less the same voice, so some way to more vividly distinguish them would add a lot of life to this. I thought the act of transitioning to a character could be snappier to avoid a “buffer period” between each new character’s line. The speaker seemed to be loosing their flow as if stumbling over lines fairly often. I think that’s something that could probably be ironed out with more practice and familiarity with this huge text. Also on the costuming side, I found the speaker’s beaded bracelets clacking together quite distracting.
My overall impression
This felt pretty unpolished. Needs some energy and variety injected to bring its quite niche story to life.
