It’s fun to see the entire theatre space utilized for a performance. You may hurt your neck, but you need to follow this story as it moseys from the stage, to the booth, to the stage, to the booth. The verisimilitude (ooh, big fancy word for “feeling real”) of actually operating the theatre during the performance is clever and leads to some very funny moments I would hate to spoil.
Come for the wit. Stay for the genuine expressions of frustration, love, disappointment, and delight for The Theatre.
What I didn't like
The stage manager had to stall for like half an hour. Very unprofessional of Blake Beckett to be so late to his own performance. I mean, the stage manager was very entertaining, but that’s just not the show I was there to see, you know?
My overall impression
A love/hate letter to theatre that anyone who’s devoted their life to this strange and ephemeral art form can relate to. Also it’s gd hilarious with several “oof, too real” moments.
