What I liked

I love the staging with the voice mails and the use of rage. I really love the catharsis it creates. It makes me so happy to get to spend time with someone on a level this intimate. I love that the show is unsettling and leaves things unexplained. I find her engaging and beautiful to look at from the jump, and the sweetness at the end feels earned without being saccharine.

What I didn't like

It’s so hard to give notes to something this personal. I liked that bit in earlier iterations when she had the dildo and the boxes. If she’s in full tantrum mode and won’t show me her art, I understand. This audience member wants to see her art by the end of the show.

My overall impression

Claire Woolner’s show is about ego and about connection and about failure and about all the thoughts we have when we want to make art. It’s about the stupid voices in our head after we try something brave… or don’t try something brave.
It’s a weird show. It’s very, very human. Claire is a very, very human performer. If you like engaging with intimate, stickety wickety stuff, GO. It’s a laff.
I’m a big fan of art that makes me feel things in my body, and I feel Claire’s show all the way in my spine — and that’s a hint about this show!
