There were several moments of audience participation. And moments when the audience wasn’t sure whether it SHOULD participate, or if so, HOW it should participate. I did the like the uncomfortable feeling of danger of not quite knowing what would happen. I liked the unpredictable nature of it, and that there were certain aspects of the show that just couldn’t possibly be fully rehearsed or planned.
What I didn't like
I feel weird giving constructive feedback. There were many moments in the show that made feel very uncomfortable, and that I could honestly say I didn’t really like. But since I suspect that all of that was completely intentional, it would be odd for me to say hey, take out that stuff that made me feel uncomfortable. So if you’re thinking of going, just know you are likely to be engaged and maybe entertained through most of this, but there may be moments when you just need to look away. But it’s a short show, so you’ll be fine. Worth the experience, and the discussion after.
My overall impression
Very entertaining show. I don’t have too much Fringe experience, but to me this was exactly what a Fringe show should be. Weird, funny, uncomfortable, edgy, personal, soul-baring, and a whole lot of WTF. My wife and I had no past experience with Claire’s work. But comedy and clowning appealed to us. This is definitely a show that gets you thinking and debating. We had totally different interpretations of what we had seen. In fact, it’s almost like we saw two totally different shows. We’ve been talking about it non-stop. There’s been a lot of “Oh you thought it meant that?” A very memorable experience.
