What I liked
The writing was snappy, the confessional moments were fun, the juxtaposition of public action to private thought was a nice ride that stayed entertaining. Atmosphere was also well-maintained through the whole play, and the dialogue kept things moving forward. The actress with the British accent was particularly compelling even when she wasn’t speaking.
What I didn't like
If this show gets put up anywhere else, please cut the standup. It was objectively lackluster and set the wrong tone for the actual good show that came after it.
This is more of a personal note, but I wish the satire didn’t rely so heavily on women tearing each other down. I get that it’s a parody of reality TV but it made me sad that there wasn’t any nuance to any of the characters we saw except for The One Man who has the power to fix everybody else’s problem.
My overall impression
A well-rounded and mostly fun production. The Standup felt more like time-filler than anything else, and I wish we could’ve had more time with the other characters in the play.
A cute, albeit simple, satire. It feels kind of like a tv episode.
