Everything. The story needs a real epiphany or at least an edge. The stage direction slows the presentation down. The actors need better timing and delivery. And there isn’t a need for the MC’s pre-show “comedic” explanation of what Hollywood is really like. It completely gives away the full story before we get there. The show is also misclassified as a cabaret, which it definitely is not.
My overall impression
They were clearly having a bad night when I saw this show. It’s clear that the writer has written about four archetypes of people they despise. Because every one of them is a villain – un-empathetic and completely distasteful.
