About the Project

Britney Spears famously said “there’s only two types of people in this world: one’s that entertain, and ones that observe.” Cora belongs to the former. She’s rude but loveable, fun but destructive, stripping because she’s not sure what else to do with her life, and on a death mission to fill the void left post break-up with her best friend/girlfriend/ex. In short: Cora is a hot mess. POLES is an award-nominated Australian dark comedy about stripping, the stigma of monetising your body, and the quest for something more.

“A tour-de-force.” – WeekendNotes
“Pitcher is mesmerising from start to finish… a truly compelling performance.” – The Advertiser
“From direction, to staging to acting, this piece of theatre is a must see for both men and women” – Mikaela @ TheatreTravels, Brisbane
“The work raises prescient questions around the commodification of the body and how we perceive sex workers and their labour. It is a play that demands empathy for the protagonist, and insists she is understood as both a flawed person and one worthy of respect. The voice that shines through in Pitcher’s work is urgent and authentic. I think it’s a voice we should listen to.” – Miranda @ TheatreTravels, Sydney
“Extremely witty… highlights the growing pains of your early twenties” – Girls With A Curfew
