What I liked

Everything works. Brendan’s story moves like a well-timed train with very pleasant detours that update old jokes, while contextualizing older material. His energy is unmatched, his music cues perfect, and his wardrobe changes will be burned into your memory forever. The show is perfectly gezellig.

What I didn't like

Nada nada nada not a damn thing.

My overall impression

In this jubilant celebration of self, Brendan Hunt’s “Five Years in Amsterdam” captures a crucial 5 year raucous journey of self-discovery. The prologue perfectly sets the audience on a rollercoaster ride of unexpected adventures ranging from sleeping in a barren studio apartment in Chicago, to a party in a Dutch Mansion that puts Stanley Kubrick’s “Eyes Wide Shut” to shame. Who knew “Boom Chicago” founder Andrew Moskos’s way of saying “Boom Chicago!” is a character unto itself? If you have the chance to see it, do it immediately!
