What I liked

So happy to have had the opportunity to see this performance live. There is an energy of the theater that can’t be captured on video. The moments of interaction with the audience’s responses is just not something you can experience watching from home. Brendan exudes joy and humor. And his confidence in both storytelling and in himself as he stripped down to his undies is something to admire.

What I didn't like

We were at the preview night, so there were still a couple kinks getting worked out. At the end of the show, there was a card that breifly flashed on the screen titled “Epilogue”, but Brendan finished the show with “Today” and that was that. I was curious if we missed something. Guess I’ll have to come see it again. Oh darn. :)

My overall impression

Like many who came to see Brendan, I am a fan of Ted Lasso, particularly Coach Beard. It was exciting seeing him live, and it was a lot of fun to learn how similar Beard is to Brendan. It’s damn impressive to watch someone hold an audience’s attention for 45 continuous minutes, but Brendan is an expert storyteller, and hearing these true tales of a life story was a riot. I was reminded of some of my favorite stand-up comedy specials that are less joke-joke-joke, and more of a weaving narrative of wonderfully silly anecdotes.
