The Movement You Need (a work in progress)

What I liked

I loved the framing device, the projections featuring highlights from Brendan’s youth, and the ending hit me like a punch in the gut. The show made me laugh out loud, get choked up, and of course, sing along!

What I didn't like

There were some technical and timing issues, but nothing that couldn’t be conquered by Brendan’s goodwill and comedic timing.

My overall impression

Brendan has always been an endlessly compelling performer and even a work-in-progress by him is so worth seeing. “The Movement You Need” is about youth, family, love, childhood, growth, acid, na-na’s, and the Beatles – and I loved every moment of it. I definitely can’t wait to see how this piece develops!
