What I liked

The loose, off the cuff nature of the show draws the audience in bringing us all on the journey. The seemingly effortless balance of humor and vulnerability had me at turns feeling elated, gobsmacked, heartbroken and heart-warmed.

Each of us lives a unique narrative. Brendan Hunt has lived a Homeric epic writ in large print in Mad Magazine.

What I didn't like

What I saw was the preview. He will only tighten and solidify the show further from now, but I feel honored and privileged to have seen it in its nascence. Future audiences will get to enjoy this excellent work of comedic vulnerability.

My overall impression

Brendan Hunt is a master of the solo show. Rarely does a performer connect so honestly and sincerely with an audience while simultaneously having them howl with delight AND moved to tears. It’s even more remarkable when the show you attend is the preview of a show in progress. He commands the stage with a combined presence of a classic physical comedian (say Stan Laurel) and a compelling diva (say Jennifer Holliday or Sutton Foster). If I could, I would see this show over and over, but it is sold out.
