About the Project
Mixing mayhem, madness, plenty of schtick, and a surprising amount of heartfelt, thought provoking drama, NEVER AFTER HAPPILY takes us into the world of fairy tales to examine what happens After Happily Ever After. At first blush, we think this is just a clever retelling of our fav Grimm heroes, but suddenly “The Writer”, Ella, is there to tell us, “Yeah, we’re not doing that. I don’t care about what happened before the ending, I wanna know what happens after the ending.” And what unfolds is 90 minutes of examining our very real world and all the lies that fairy tales promised us. Audiences have found a new hero in Ella, a “woman of certain age” who is wrestling with the hard realities of our very real, cruel world and the struggles to make sense of the themes and morals that were supposed to lead to a happy life. Dig in, because it’s about to get wild. And stupid. And real. As one critic put it, “it’s a rare combination of material that manages to be as thought provoking as it is wildly entertaining.”
