What I liked
Loved the audio that allows the audience to hear the thoughts of the characters onstage. It was so lovely to see the volunteers from the audience lock into what was being said in the headphones and also how that would effect them together as scene partners. It was like watching a scene in acting class while also knowing what internal subtext was the actor was applying. Very interesting.
What I didn't like
I found that I didn’t really want/need to hear the dialogue in both the headphones and from the actors. It’s more interesting to hear the internal thoughts and watch that effect the actors in their moments. Just hearing the dialogue from the actors and being able to switch from person to person internally is more interesting to me and cleaner to the ear. Perhaps why the third scene worked so well is because it played with that idea more so than relying on spoken word to tell the story.
My overall impression
Fun concept that does a great job inviting the audience into the premise and getting folks involved. It’s a show you can see more than once and have totally new experiences each time. Loved how the show builds. The third scene was the strongest with the production for both parts having pushed the premise the furthest and most completely.
