The songs are well crafted and often hilarious, and Lasers’ comedic timing is right on the money.
What I didn't like
For a preview, this show seems amazingly close to being fully realized. There was the expected first-night technical glitch when a piano track came in too soon, but Laser turned that into a welcome improv moment, and the momentum continued.
This will be among the shows everyone is talking about this year – perhaps THE show people will be talking about!
My overall impression
A stunning piece of work that feels as historically important as it is funny, A Shark Ate My Penis: A History of Boys Like Me is destined to have a big impact on the culture.
Laser the Boy takes us through personal experiences and fascinating stories of trans men throughout history in this irreverent and enjoyable one man show that is simultaneously weighty and light.
