I loved the songs, some of them grounded and heartbleedy, and some of them patter-y with a punchline at the end of each couplet. All were expertly written, sung, performed, and sometimes I couldn’t believe the songs were already over—I wanted more! I also really enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek digitally represented character of Joanne (J.K. Rowling) and how her contrarian views never landed or shook Laser.
What I didn't like
More Laser, if possible, please.
My overall impression
An absolute triumph of pure comedic edu-tainment about trans-men, and a deep dive into auteur Laser the Man’s trans journey. The house was packed and the laughs per minute were astounding. The messages were heartfelt and grounded, and emotions were felt. I walked away with an optimism and hope for trans people and the future of gender in our world… and sore abs (from laughing).
