The time travel element is a great way to meld the stories of history’s “female husbands” with Laser’s own journey.
The JK Rowling foil is very funny and allows Laser to refute common anti-trans talking points. It’s so clever.
The songs are rad. The jokes are hilarious. The stories are true and touching.
What I didn't like
There were a few tech hiccups but that’s live theater, baby! Laser handled them professionally and humorously.
The only way I can think of to improve this show is to tour it, specifically to rural central Illinois so I can see it in person.
My overall impression
This is a very creative, super-funny, deeply personal yet universally relatable show that genuinely educates as it entertains. Laser is like a queer Mr. Rogers, gently explaining how transness has always been with us via songs, stories, and make-believe. And swears. This Mr. Rogers fucks.
