What I liked

A journey that questions this whole church thing while exploring themes of redemption, grief and hope.

It can be said that church offers a home, a place of comfort and security. Oddly, in a play about leaving the church, I felt right at home. I felt held.

Dan commands such a presence on stage, and I’m not talking about his much discussed height. It’s his ability to make you feel like you are the only one in the room. Hmm. His ability to question religion, while at the same time open doors for me to question my own ideas about faith.

Dan doesn’t condemn the church, (too much), which I appreciated. Instead he allowed for his stories to come through him—never pushed. But with a gentle and sacred escape that I needed.

It can be said that God shows up in mysterious ways, right? I believe that God was there, and maybe God was about change— and hope—and finding your own path that day. That day I saw Dan’s performance.

And I believed him. I believed in myself.

Is God here? Yeah…I think so.
