I was impressed by Satu’s presence on stage and their obvious passion for this project.
The songs were impactful – they all had their messages, and a few were pretty catchy. As a musician myself, I understand some of the feelings that King Nigel (Satu) put into the performance.
What I didn't like
My only musical complaint is that some of the songs started to blend together about a third of the way through the show. I think some diversification of vibe would help the piece overall to feel distinct. A slight tweak of genre or settings on the synth might help with this!
The way that the masculine “King Nigel” was used as the stage name for a female artist felt sort of wasted. There was no reason for that name or title – it gave me the impression that there would be some metaphor or direct reference to gender identity in the public eye, but I was left disappointed.
I wanted more energy! King Nigel wasn’t unhinged enough – we’re seeing her nervous breakdown, don’t be afraid to give it 100%!
My overall impression
This show is an enjoyable reflection of stardom and how fragile one’s mental state can get under the immense pressure of fame.
