What I liked
There is some really clever staging and choreography choices. It’s clear that the performer directed a lot of passion into this project.
“She’s got the money and the power”
What I didn't like
The telling of these events feels tragically out of touch in a way that would seem dishonest if not so sincerely oblivious. Their story is a really sad one, but it’s made sadder by the fact that I felt like this performer genuinely doesn’t understand why they’re in such a rut, noncontrollable factors aside.
Songs often had long stretches without lyrics where it felt musically verses were meant to go.
Characters could be more clearly distinguished without playing into caricature.
My overall impression
This show is extremely entertaining, but probably not for the reasons the performer intends. If you’re hunting for “The Room” energy, I can’t recommend this show enough.
