There’s just something innately hilarious about using an incredibly minimal medium such as finger puppets to attempt to portray such a big spectacle musical that everybody knows, but goddammit those little bastards really pull it off! Some excellent pipes on these puppets. A lot of effort went into the projections, which really added a lot to this interpretation of Little Shop of Horrors, the show I was there to experience, and the only thing I was there to experience.
What I didn't like
I think Kelsey and the finger puppets could use a couple real good group therapy sessions. Their personal drama kept distracting from the story I was there to see, which was, of course, Little Shop of Horrors and nothing else. I hope they get that sorted out for the next performances.
My overall impression
Talented finger puppets with a lot of drama going on that is, admittedly, extremely funny, even if it kept interrupting the story of Little Shop of Horrors. Obviously, Little Shop of Horrors was the reason we all attended. No other reason.
