My wife grew up in Hong Kong listening to Sherlock Holmes on the radio. Each night she would retell the daily segment of the Holmes’ story to her family. She was familiar with the stories and was struck by how well Miles-Thomas portrayed Watson and other famous characters in the canon. She also liked how the story covered the time period from Holmes meeting Watson to…the end. Well done.
What I didn't like
Everything worked for us.
My overall impression
I first visited 221B Baker Street through the pages of Conan Doyle’s (technically Watson’s) stories when I was twelve years old. Over the years it has been a safe, comfortable, and stimulating refuge in a world that seems to have become less safe and comfortable. Sherlock Holmes represents a time when intellect and cunning triumphed over brute force, media bullying and legal manipulation. Tonight I returned to Baker Street. For an hour Nigel Miles-Thomas made Sherlock Holmes come alive again in an intimate setting. Familiar, yet its own special thing.
