What I liked
An evening of theater I really enjoyed breakout game. This was perfect for me because I’m already a little bit obsessed with ghosts in theaters. I’ve never read anything like that before, and I was unable to foresee where it was going to go. that was a very creative piece of writing. The performers were all top-notch, and the work had several layers that were at times humorous, other times lovely and sad.
What I didn't like
Occasionally, when the women were somewhat behind the guys, I had problems seeing and hearing. Even though I was seated in the front, the thrust staging, which can be difficult, may have been a contributing factor. Because they are so small, the women can be easily obscured by the much bigger men (I had trouble spotting them when they were standing on DSR-USL angles).
I didn’t let this minor inconvenience stop me from enjoying the play, but I would hate to think that any statements would have been misunderstood.
My overall impression
The feminist slant that this story adopted shocked me positively. When the attractive young women joined the, uh, less youthful men, I had a “oh no” moment. The good news is that they have interesting stories of their own, and everything about them was a surprise. They are not there to swoon over the males. This is an astute piece that is expertly directed and gorgeously performed by a strong cast that has a strong sense of chemistry.
