I believe the characters are the strongest part of the show and the part I enjoyed the most. They had such distinct personalities that made it an absolute pleasure to see them interact with one another. Each actor also clearly understood their character and did a great job bringing them to life on stage. The devotion to such interesting characters also massively helped the story by drawing in the audience and making them care about the stakes because of how it impacted the characters.
What I didn't like
Ultimately, I think the show struggled with a similar issue to a lot of musicals and that’s simply that some critical parts of the story were hard to understand given that they were presented in song. For instance, the opening song had a lot of information that was slightly hard to hear, but I still understood broadly what was happening.
My overall impression
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Valley of Light and think the cast and crew should be proud of the amazing work they’ve done. While some areas could be improved, I felt most of these issues were simply the product of technical limitations or a lack of refinement. However, despite those issues, you still have a compelling narrative full of well-defined and complex characters alongside a consistently impressive musical score. I would highly recommend seeing this show.
