Wow. I was very impressed with this innovative production. It's impossible to talk about this thrilling play without heavily spoiling some key details about the story, but I can promise you that you will be surprised by the incredible twists and turns that this play takes you on throughout its journey. The play had a lovely balance of tense drama and comedy, all of this under the umbrella of the very important topics that the play tackles courageously. I have seen many plays that try and tackle gender politics, and this is perhaps the production that best explored the nuances of gender politics and culture in a fair, creative, and non-preachy manner. The Box was a smart, well acted, seriously funny play that I was pleasantly surprised to see. Stephen and Alice are especially strong in their performances and a joy to watch as their relationship slowly at first spiraled to those dark places we desperately want to avoid.
