What I liked
Lang went to the mat every moment of his performance to extract the core of his character and his condition.
What I didn't like
I would have liked seeing more of Chance Lang perform, and look forward to seeing him on the screen and stage!
My overall impression
I feel as if I witnessed the discovery of the next new movie star when taking-in Chance Lang’s one-man show presented at a performance at Stephanie Feury Studio Theatre — one of the venues at the current Hollywood Fringe Festival. Lang’s command of the stage was instantaneous and his portrayal of a down-and-out (booze? drugs? romance? ALL OF THAT!!) young man searching for answers was nothing short of total commitment filled with pathos and ethos. Lang’s commitment was so complete I wanted to stage an intervention right there on the spot. That he somehow seamlessly wove a solo music number (accompanying himself on his guitar) was frosting on the cake: such a powerful, melodic voice and so comfortable and at ease with his guitar. There’s no doubt in my mind that we’ll be seeing a lot more of this powerful, handsome, sell-effacing new talent in the months and years ahead!
