What I liked
Lang’s performance flowed, from his first word to his last gesture, he holds his audience in rapt attention and suspense. Lang engages the stage and his surroundings to share vulnerability and courage, heartache and transformation.
The set was precisely dysfunctional, affording Lang the opportunity to make us laugh and ache, experiencing the breath of his every move and uttered sound.
What I didn't like
We would have liked more time with the artist!! A longer show!! More seats!! This performance was sold out opening day and colleagues and friends were turned away.
This performance would benefit from more weekend showings.
My overall impression
Chance Lang delivers an edgy and breathtaking performance. “Trying” is an epic mesmerizing lament. As tragic, as tender, as it is hysterical.
Lang’s timing and choreography are captivating, like a well orchestrated dance. His presence is electrifying!
