Monday, February 27th from 7:00pm-9:00pm PT Zoom | Facebook Live This free workshop, with HFF partner No Proscenium, will be led by a panel of past participants and other veteran community members who can offer you an insider perspective of what to expect producing immersive & site specific work at the Fringe. The event will consist of an extended Q&A session and stories from the panelists. To join in on the Zoom chat, make sure to reserve your ticket no later than 6:00pm PT on the day of the event. Check out the stream of all Fringe events that have passed here. -——————— Moderators: Noah Nelson & Monica Miklas Noah Nelson is the founder of No Proscenium, a publication dedicated to exploring the immersive and experiential arts, its sister site Everything Immersive, and parent organization The Immersive Experience Institute. As a producer he has led multiple immersive industry events including the Immersive Design Summit (2018 & 2019), and the Los Angeles Immersive Invitational (2019 & 2022). His extensive experience consulting on immersive work includes Camp Christmas (Denver Center for the Performing Arts), and working with Tender Claws to develop initial casting protocols for The Under Presents (Meta Quest). He holds a bachelor’s in Theatre Arts from San Francisco State University. His reporting has been heard on NPR’s All Things Considered and APM’s Marketplace. Monica Miklas is an immersive creator and producer with over a decade of experience in live events, including theatre, fundraisers, and community programs. She is the co-founder and principal of Capital W, a radical theatre collaboration that creates intimate, immersive, and site-specific performances, including Fringe premieres like Hamlet-Mobile and Rochester, 1996. She develops experiential entertainment for RWS Entertainment Group, working with clients including cruise lines, theme parks, resorts, and gardens. Panelists: Jenapher Zheng, Nina Childs & Katy Foley Jenapher Zheng is a Chinese-American actor and multi-disciplinary artist from Alhambra, CA with her conservatory training from CalArts. She has produced, written, and performed immersive theatre at both Hollywood Fringe and various locations in Los Angeles. Recently, she guest starred in the Season 14 premiere of NCIS:LA. Theatrical credits include MAN OF GOD at Geffen Playhouse, SEIZE THE KING at La Jolla Playhouse, KENTUCKY at East West Players, and readings of THE GREAT LEAP and TOKYO FISH STORY at the San Diego Old Globe and South Coast Rep, respectively. She is the editor for the all-Asian, all-female comic book company Kwento Comics, and also streams video games on her Twitch Channel under the moniker JenZany. Www.JenapherZheng.com Nina Childs is a writer/director/producer and 5-year fringe veteran. A graduate from the LACHSA and AMDA NY Schools. She has been working and performing in the theatre in some form or facet since she was 5 years old. Nina is currently living in Los Angeles and working as a screenwriter for hire and in pre-production for her newest Immersive Fringe project which will be opening in 2023. Katy Foley was born and raised on deep dish pizza during the bulls dream team years in Chicago. Too short to be like Mike she set her sights on entertainment. Her immersive journey began before she even knew it. Before immersive was called immersive. She performed in Kurt Cobain’s “Montage of Heck House” which was widely acclaimed by Vice Magazine and in the Luther immersive campaign for Fox at Comic Con. She also was offered a job as a performer at Cloak and Dagger where she finally learned there was a terminology for the art she had been doing for years. As a performer over the years, Katy has performed with companies like Disco Dining Club, Drunken Devil, Meta For You, and Mycotoo to name a few. Shows and experiences have ranged from: Theatre Macabre, MadCap Motel, Rock of Ages, Electric Forest and most recently the Stranger Things Experience. Katy fell in love with immersive she created an award winning immersive company called KatNip Productions with her production partner Lena Valentine. KatNip specializes in immersive comedies like Paulie Polymers Office Christmas Party, Best Night Ever and the Immy Award Winning show the Sleepover. Katy’s excited to continue to perform in and create more experiences for years to come.
