Winner of the top jury prize at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival, Indie Nile’s drag therapy theater show will make you laugh, cry and heal your childhood wounds all while jamming to your favorite 80s ballads. Structured like a therapy session, this fabulously original theater show sold out everywhere it played in the Netherlands and Europe and is now coming to the US for the first time. On the stage, Indie will play the female therapist who is interacting with her male client on video projection (also played by Indie) as she gives him advice on how to handle himself during each stage of a relationship. This “conversation with the self” is at the core of Indie Nile’s artistic language. In typical Indie Nile fashion, How 2 Prepare 4 the Love of Your Life blends spoken- word with pop music. Excerpts from iconic 80s & 90s ballads are spread throughout the show. These are the songs which shaped the fantasy-based way that Indie (like most of the people in the audience) views love & relationships. The essence of this theater show can be found in the artist’s name Indie Nile (i.e. in denial). It is about waking up from the fog of denial and facing reality about love and relationships. The show is inspired by the artist’s deep longing for genuine love, not Hollywood love.
