What I liked

There was a lot that I loved about the show, but a few of the stand out aspects to me was the diverse cast. The actors were amazing and I love how real and relatable they were. I also loved Cas’s back story, it’s such a relatable struggle, even now. Olive also was such a real and relatable character. Watching her struggle in not only paying rent, but also in her relationships was so real and relatable. The desperation of needing a roommate to pay rent but also not having full control of the situation was portrayed so well. I also loved that while all of them had their own motives and wants they all had good intentions, no one was the “bad guy” they all just were trying to do what they thought was best and also trying to get/keep what they want.

What I didn't like

There were some moments, early on, where I didn’t notice or quite understand that Cas was talking to the locked door. It wasn’t a huge issue, I was only confused for a few moments, but because it was so early on I believed my questions would be answered and they were. Part of the problem also could have been where I was sitting, it was hard to see some of the things going on, but that is no fault of the performance.

My overall impression

Ghosts Can’t Pay Rent did not disappoint! The show is a beautiful combination of humor and tragedy culminating in the heartbreaking and inspiring depiction of the queer human experience spanning decades. The diverse cast of talented actors gave a performance that was believable, touching, and thought provoking. The important topics addressed in this show was presented in a way that was relatable and hopeful, while also being entertaining and funny. I truly enjoyed the show. Five stars!
