What I liked

I loved the comedic moments of this play. It was all so well written in context of the typical WeHo community today. The writing plays with supernatural elements but still keeps the narrative grounded in emotional realities. Fernanda (Cas, the ghost) has brilliant comedic timing, and that is only the top of the iceberg. She does an impeccable job of battling her own inner demons while doing her best to look out for her living friend and roommate, which made it all the more impactful when I recognized the codependency between Olive and Cas. Her behaviour is honest, and in some moments her words strike deep into your heart.

What I didn't like

I personally didn’t understand the resolution of the play. I loved where and how it ended, I just didn’t understand how it got there. I would like to keep the details of this private, because I do urge that you watch this when you can. Regardless, I enjoyed the characters too much to sweat the details.

My overall impression

This play tells a lovely story of unfulfilled desires and how we as humans (dead or alive) hold on tightly to the things most precious to us. Although I didn’t understand the ending too well, I didn’t question it in the moment at all. I believe that’s due to the very honest and impactful acting of Fernanda aka Cas. From the very first scene, this very lively cast told a very funny yet heartwarming story. Their inner lives and relationships to each other were deep and relatable. Be sure to catch this production to enjoy some supernatural yet genuine performances!
