What I liked

All the performers. Not a single one missed a beat (emotionally and literally/rhythmically). The puppet work and voices were fantastic. I also loved the character arc of looking for validation and discovering each character had validation all along (sort of a spoiler, I guess?). A lovely story with a wonderful message.

What I didn't like

There were a couple of characters that didn’t feel as fleshed out as others, but it didn’t detract much from the story, and I think as the show progresses (and maybe there’s more to the story?), these characters will feel just as warranted as the others.

My overall impression

Very cute, endearing, heartfelt, and fun for all ages, Runaway Rue is a simple story with a clever, complex, and elegant exhibition that left a smile on my face by the resolution, cheering along with the audience and the actors on stage.
