The music was sophisticated and elevated the story and the humor. It made a made-for-children musical so enjoyable for all of the adults in the room. And the emotion was real! The joy coming from on stage was contagious!
What I didn't like
By no fault of their own, the room size didn’t lend itself to being able to see everything on stage if you were sitting in the side rows. I’d either encourage everyone to sit in the middle section (when available) or just beware that some of the action gets lost onstage when the actors are too far to one side.
My overall impression
This delightful and joyous family-friendly musical was just the cure for any Sunday scaries. The puppetry is masterful, especially considering that the choreography wasn’t simplistic. The cast was wonderful and fought through minor (and expected) mic issues to deliver songs that were full of so much heart. I found myself humming several of the tunes for the rest of the afternoon.
