Lili is a sexually inexperienced artist, an Iraqi-Iranian-American-Jewish girl DJ who has already found the love of her life. But, she wonders, could there be more? And how? One night at a show, she is rescued by a hot stranger…and his girlfriend…and his girlfriends other lover. She then has the hardest conversation of her life, asking her boyfriend Brian for some time to explore some new experiences with multiple lovers.
Lili’s boyfriend sees that she’s genuinely searching for something more – so he reluctantly agrees to give her the chance to explore the Poly connection that she feels she’s missing – but only IF she can make her Poly lifestyle work without affecting their existing bond.
So she embarks on her Polyamorous journey, getting a crash course on dating apps, BDSM, kink, and Unicorn Life, and has relationships that bring out new parts of herself.
When Lili has a coffee reading with her traditional Iraqi and Iranian Aunties, she is shocked to learn how they were married off as teenagers to men they were either afraid of or didn’t know! Lili realizes the incredible freedom she has as a Middle Eastern woman in America. She has the freedom to love…and even the freedom to love more than one person. She has the freedom to express her beauty and sexuality. She has the freedom to stand up and be a voice for women, and for people who feel flawed by their innate desire to love more than one person. Ultimately it is not her lovers, but her family, who help Lili find her voice, and her moment of reckoning — choosing the Polyamorous lifestyle despite the stigma and the consequences of losing people she loves.
Performer/Dancer/Rapper/DJ Datgirl Serene plays Lili, as well as hilariously portraying Lili’s lovers, friends, and Middle Eastern family, for a total of nineteen sharply-drawn authentic heartfelt characters. Keeping Lili company onstage is a red velvet burlesque chair, on which she cabaret dances, spins fire, and gets intimate with the audience. She uses the chair to convey both sensuality and the physicality of awkward hookup moments in her Unicorn exploration.
On the other side of the stage is Lili’s DJ gear, a live electronic music set up with club lighting and a mic. Lili raps and DJs the accompanying score, including an LGBTQA dance hit, and ends the show with a big musical reveal: her first Polyamory love song where she Comes Out to her family and to the world.
