LeBarron displays a strong sense of range through only four briskly paced segments, with characters that feel well-realized and performed with an appropriate measure of control and weight. The arrangement of tones and themes in the show make for a one-man performance that stays consistently entertaining and substantial all throughout, especially to a queer audience.

My overall impression
David LeBarron turns out fantastic performances in Monsters, playing four powerfully queer and meaningful roles which throughout the show balance mythological portrayal with personal, vulnerable truth. Well acted, paced, and scripted, LeBarron’s monsters each find distinct ways to connect to the audience, delivering compelling renderings of their apparent monstrousness just as he puts their inner, honest humanity on display.
