A heavy and thoughtful look at grief and trying to escape living beneath a very large shadow. The performances are solid (especially the father) and the minimal, abstract staging helps highlight what’s important.
What I didn't like
Despite the poignancy, it remained in shades of the same dour emotional level the whole show. Every now and then there would be lines and moments that could possibly be funny, but it never broke through the dour tone. Some more shades of tone and emotion would have gone a long way to adding some dynamism.
My overall impression
Beautifully written, cleverly staged, and well-acted, but there’s a lack of dynamism to the performance and I think the script itself.
