I thought the scenes between the father and son were particularly powerful, both actors did an amazing job of conveying painful emotions with empathetic accuracy. The tension in the scene with the gun really got to me, I couldn’t look away yet badly wanted to because of the ache I felt in my chest for the characters.
What I didn't like
Unless she was intended as a figment of his imagination, the “girl with green eyes” seemed unrealistic and too-good-to-be-true in the Manic Pixie Dream Girl tradition.
My overall impression
An uneven but ultimately effective exploration of grief and grief-caused madness.
