What I liked

Ryan Lisman was tremendous, commanding the stage in a simultaneously skittish, terrifying, and compassionate way as the piece’s tragic hero. The language throughout was also incredibly specific and loquacious (in a good way), adding to the technical complexity of the show and Lisman’s stellar performance.

What I didn't like

Because of the intensely specific dialogue, whenever there was a line flub (and there were a few, though all relatively minor), it did take me out of the almost dreamlike trance that I’d been lulled into by the beautiful language, but only for a few moments!

My overall impression

Nocturne was a poetic, almost lyrical piece that felt as much like a musical performance as it did a play. It was beautiful and haunting all at once.
