despadazaoR. : An immersive dance theater performance following 10 foster youth artist stories in Los Angeles exploring what it means to despedazar (break apart) their foster care experiences in the Right ways while also centering healing, grief, joy, empathizing houselessness and creating reimagined home. The work explores how to bring empathy to the foster youth and houseless community, understanding that LA County has attributed foster care as a direct driver of one-third of LA’s current houseless community (as of 2020). Audiences, collaborators, and Angelinos are invited in to acknowledge this reality and reshape the ways we include foster youth and houseless community voices in solutions to LA’s long-standing issues: houselessness and foster care reform.
