Ariel Jimenez is the human that artists dream of conveying. His one man, many machine, “Empathy Party” leaves audience’s questioning if what they experienced was a creator’s heart or the fearful and hopeful nature of their own authenticity. His cantor is friendly, awkward while charming, all while his jokes open your heart wide enough to pierce the ego with the truth. Though the truths he shares hurts, his segues between comedy and drama are so natural, you would almost be convinced that laughing at heartbreak was always necessary. Not to ridicule, but to relish the joys and strife of life. He’s an emerging talent, one that the vapid Id of Entertainment will not admit to understand. And yet, if, “Empathy Party” and the talented Ariel Jimenez can leave just one simple impression it’s this: within the machine, the human story will always be worthy.
