I love Mary’s whole vibe. She brings us into her world and does not hide. Some of the details of her story are painful to hear but she is not sugarcoating her experience. I find that refreshing. She has a clear and powerful voice that I could listen to all day and her sense of humor keeps the piece from ever becoming too heavy. It was a joy to watch her explore period of her life and ultimately find her way back to herself. I’m totally inspired. My favorite part was when she called “line” and the person in the booth said, “shame.” Mary said, “Shame! Of course I forgot ‘shame’!” The whole room cheered and clapped.

My overall impression
Mary is a seasoned performer who gracefully brings us into the story of her childhood. It’s full of dark details, spouts of humor, and fantastical characters like WEED and SHAME. I left knowing more about the interesting person that is Mary and energized by the spirit of personal healing.
