they tend to themselves: a choreopoem

What I liked

Ms. Jackson has a light and bright quality to her speaking voice, and a deep and textured presence in her singing voice.

What I didn't like

I would have welcome much more of her singing voice – expanding the expressiveness of the text. Song can reveal what is truly needed in the overall justice of the work.

My overall impression

A truly distinctive effort which needs to grow a bit more. Choreopoem is one of the most challenging forms in performance; and combining a radical use of mirrors adds another layer of complexity to a demanding arena.
