My overall impression

This show was easily the best comedy I have seen out here in Los Angeles over the past few years of the Fringe. The content, the timing, the dialogue, everything was remarkable, plain and simple. Starting from a well directed, brilliantly written piece from Christofer Frey, to an extraordinarily casted ensemble of actors on and off stage, this show brought it from start to finish.

What really made Pacific Conference stand out from the rest of the comedic shows, was that it was incredibly unique in the sense that you had voices coming in from off stage during the, “mock conference call” taking place. Not only did that add a completely different element of comedy to the show, but the actors playing the off-stage voices were on point the entire time which I personally found highly impressive, considering they couldn’t see what was going on onstage. Trying someone like that can be incredibly risky, but when done right – like they proved in this show – payed off immensely.

And of course, we can’t forget the actors who were on stage. On one side, we have a crazy Australian powerhouse actor and his lunatic of an agent who aimed to change every aspect of the entire contract in their favor by manipulating everyone offstage. Battling against them in order to save not only this movie deal but their careers, we have a big time studio exec who is a seasoned vet in the industry, and his prodigy – a fan boy, CEO wanna-be who’s life crumbles down right before our eyes. All four actors had me completely engaged throughout the entire performance, leaving me quite upset once it finished.. Only because I just wanted to see more!

I truly hope this show gets picked up for an extended run, because it would be a shame for this piece to never get a chance to resurface without anyone else getting a chance to experience it before the festival is over.

Well done Mr. Frey
