The script needs a lot of work. There's no focus, no clear vision, no through-line, no depth and no arc. As a result, it rambles and leaves the audience with no way to connect with or reason to care about the titular character. I do think that with more work, this show can be very strong. An energetic and full-hearted performance but it was undone by a poorly developed script. You cannot evoke an Irish accent merely by changing every "my" to me;" there is also grammer. The same applies to sea-faring lingo--I never believed her as a ship's captain. History seems to be adrift here, too. It was never clear who was fighting who. And to appeal to Elizabeth I, the Virgin Queen, on a 'mother-to-mother' basis? ...
