What I liked

Meg’s performance went from comical to serious, offering us a look inside her journey to become the successful – and married – woman she is today. And if Chop Suey is an American dish of this-and-that, no doubt Meg’s recipe for success came from learning to live life on her own terms after never feeling good enough as a kid.

What I didn't like

Technical difficulties with the live stream were very disruptive to the emotional impact of Meg’s performance.

My overall impression

Meg Lin gives a brutally honest and heartfelt performance, offering us a look inside the cold upbringing she endured from her Chinese parents in Los Angeles. And any of us raised by parents who grew up in another country or culture will identify with her struggle to become a modern American amid the challenges of trying to please parents who cannot possibly understand the new world in which you live.
